Flight Zones in Sierra de Lijar

 

In Sierra de Lijar there are 4 take-off runways

1. Western take-off runway.
2. Northern take-off runway.
3. Eastern take-off runway.
4. Southern take-off runway.

 

And there are 2 authorized areas for landing

1. Western and Northern Landing.
2. Eastern and Southern Landing.

1.- Algodonales – Western Take-off  (Click HERE)

             

• Coordinates: 36º 53’ 41,1” N 5º 24’ 57,2” 0
• Direction: South West.
• Altitude: 890 meters.
• Slope with take-off (Paragliding): 415 meters.
• Slope with take-off (Hang gliding): 648 meters.
• Ownership of the Territory: Public.
• Access: Join the road that exists from La Muela in the Western direction (CA-9101) for 1 km., then you will find a diversion on the right that leads to a forest track that leads you to the take-off. At the beginning of the forest track there is a sign indicating the access to the take-offs. It is in a very good state of preservation.
• Parking: There aren’t any are of delimited area, although there’s space for about 7-8 vehicles, using the lateral side of the track as an access.
• Closest Population: Algodonales and District La Muela.
• Sign Posts: There isn’t any sign indicating that it is an area of take-off free flight.
• State of Preservation: The area where the take-off is located is in a good state of preservation, being a natural set up area.
• Sizes: Approximately 15x40 meters.
• Pre-flight Area: There is one, but not delimited.
• Equipments: Attached Meteorological Station (Thank You “Toni Webb”) and shade area with tables and viewpoint. It has a boarding gate and wind ribbons in the lateral sides of it.    
• Obstacles: Not noticeable.

2.- Algodonales – Northern take-off

• Coordinates: 36º 54’ 19,80” N 5º 24’ 16,06” O
• Direction: Northwest.
• Altitude: 909 meters.
• Slope with take-off (Paragliding): 434 meters.
• Slope with take-off (Hang gliding): 767 meters.
• Ownership: Public
• Access: Take the road that exits from La Muela westerly direction (CA-9101) for 1km., then you will find a diversion on the right that leads to a forest track that leads you to the take-off. It is not indicated with sign posts.
• Parking: Not delimited, the cars park next to the lane. The capacity is about 3-4 vehicles.
• Closest Population: La Muela and Algodonales are a few kilometers far from it.
• Sign Post: No.
• State of Preservation: It is in a very good state of preservation.
• Sizes: 20x7 meters.
• Pre-flight Area: It does not exist, the lane is commonly used.
• Equipments: Attached Meteorological Station and shade area with tables.
• Obstacles: Rocks and low vegetation and the right lateral side of the take-off.

 

3.- Algodonales – Eastern take-off

• Coordinates: 36º 53´ 55.74” N 5º 23´ 37.54” O
• Direction: Southeast.
• Altitude: 1000 meters.
• Slope: 614 meters.
• Ownership: Public.
• Access: Take the road that exists from La Muela in westerly direction (CA-9101) for 1km., then you will find a diversion on the right that leads to a forest track that leads you to the take-off. The take-off is past by the fire control tower.
• Parking: The upper part of the take-off esplanade is used as parking area, which is prepared with shade area, thanks to the wooden construction. When it is full, the width of the accessing lane allows cars in a row.
• Closest Population: La Muela and Algodonales.
• Sign Post: No.
• State of Preservation: The area where it the take-off is located is prepared, being its state of preservation excellent.  
• Sizes: 30x40 meters.
• Pre-flight Area: It is defined.
• Equipments: Attached Meteorological Station, shade area with tables and viewpoint. It has wind ribbons in the lateral side of the take-off.
• Obstacles: Not noticeable.
  
  

 

4.- Algodonales – Southern take-off

• Coordinates: 36º 53´ 53.25” N 5º 23´ 39.55” O     
• Direction: South.
• Altitude: 990 meters. Slope: 604 meters.
• Ownership: Public.
• Access: Take the road that exists from La Muela in westerly direction (CA-9101) for 1km., then you will find a diversion on the right that leads to a forest track that leads you to the take-off. The take-off is past by the fire control tower and on the right the eastern take-off.
• Parking: The upper part of the take-off esplanade is used as the eastern parking area, which is prepared with shade area, thanks to the wooden construction. When it is full, the width of the accessing lane allows cars in a row.  
• Closest Population: La Muela and Algodonales, very few km from it.
• Sign Post: No.
• State of Preservation: The area where it the take-off is located is prepared, being its state of preservation excellent.  
• Sizes: 30x40 meters.
• Pre-flight Area: It is defined.
• Equipments: Attached Meteorological Station, shade area with tables and viewpoint. It has wind ribbons in the lateral side of the take-off.
• Obstacles: Not noticeable.

 

A.- Algodonales – Western Paragliding take-off  and Northern take-off (Paragliding)

• Coordinates: 36º 55’ 02.49” N 5º 25’ 16.61”O
• Altitude: 474 meters.
• Ownership: Public, of municipal property.
• Access: The take-off is located next to the bullring, besides the cross between the Road CA-9191 and A-8126. It  is known in the area as “el descansadero de la Muela” next to the estate “Hermanilla” in the intersection of La Muela.
• Parking: There is a big esplanade next to the intersection for parking vehicles. It is not indicated with sign posts.
• Closest Population: La Muela, 3km far approximately.
• Sign Post: No. A sign of the Free Flight Infrastructure of Andalucía with the flight areas of Sierra de Lijar has been put recently.
• State of Preservation: In a good state, cleaning works have been recently made.
• Sizes: 100x100 meters approximately.
• Equipments: No.
• Obstacles: High voltage power lines very near to the take-off area.

B.- Algodonales – Western Hang Gliding take-off and Northern take-off (Hang gliding)

• Coordinates: 36º 52’ 23.88” N 5º 26’ 24.49” O
• Altitude: 242 meters.
• Ownership: Private.
• Access: Join the road A-384, Northwest direction and at the Algodonale’s petrol station-high, join the paved road in front of you, at the back of a Bar and just before the river, turn right, the take-off is located on a flat surrounded of olive trees and the river course. The take-off is located at 2km far from the above mentioned petrol station. The area is known as “la pasada de Madrigueras”.  
• Parking: No. The lateral side of the road is used instead.
• Closest Population: Algodonales, about 3-4 km far from it.
• Sign Post: No. 
• State of Preservation: In is in a good state.
• Sizes: 150x150 approximately.
• Equipments: There are wind ribbons.
• Obstacles: The adjacent area to the river is skirted with trees.

C.- Algodonales – Eastern and Southern Paragliding and Hang gliding take-off (Paragliding and Hang gliding)

• Coordinates: 36º 53’ 36.69” N 5º 21’ 58.67” O
• Altitude: 386 meters.
• Ownership: Private but the marked territory in the picture is rented out by the City Council, so it is an authorized landing area, respecting the farming ground.
• Access: From Algodonales, take the Road A-384 in the direction of Olvera. Once you have passed by the tunnel, at 12000 meters you should join a dirt road that exits on the right of the road, about 2000 meters you will arrive to a farmhouse, at the back of the farmhouse is the take-off. The access is in a very good state. The area is called “Campohuerta”. There are no sign posts indicating the access to the take-off.  
• Parking: The space located next to the lane as well as the espalanade besides the farmhouse are usually used as parking.
• Closest Population: Algodonales, 2km far.
• Sign Post: No. 
• State of Preservation: This is a fallow land. Very good state, it is usually plough and clean. is in a good state.
• Sizes: 150x150 approximately.
• Equipments: There is usually a windsock.
• Obstacles: Not noticeable.

Local Development Agency of Algodonales

The Local Agents of Employment Promotion (A.L.P.E.) are workers of the local corporations or entities dependents or linked to a local Administration which has the main purpose to collaborate in the promotion and implementation of the active employment politics related to the creation of business activity.

FUNCTIONS OF THE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF ALGODONALES CITY COUNCIL

1. To inform and communicate the companies and entrepreneurial of Algodonales and La Muela (acting area) about the grants for training and employment called and in force, as well as to ease the access to the same by supporting them in the paperwork and management.
2. To collaborate in the spread and use of those services and technological developments that the Employment Council of Andalucía Government offers the users – companies and demanders of employment-, for a better attention of the same.
3. To ease the labor incorporation to the demanding people of employment, specially to the participants in active politics of employment, identifying the needs of stuff in the companies in short and medium term and proposing actions of improvement of employability of the unemployed population of its acting area.
4. To analyze the evolution and repercussion of the active politics of employment in its acting area, easing the required information by the Andalucía Government.
5. To cooperate with the rest of ALPE’s which work in Sierra de Cádiz in the continuous improvement of the quality of its service, interchanging experiences and knowledge, as well as developing together activities and projects.

In its goal to contribute with the socioeconomic development of the territory, the Employment Agents will develop the following functions:

1. Prospection of idle or underused resources, of business projects of local economic promotion and innovative initiatives or the employment creation in the local field, identifying new economic activities and possible entrepreneurs.
2. To spread and stimulate the potential opportunities of activity creation for the unemployed, promoters and entrepreneurs, as well as for collaborative institutions.
3. Technical company in the initiation of business projects for its consolidation in generating companies of new job positions, advising and informing about technical, economic and financial viability and, in general, about the companies’ launching plans.
4. Any other that contribute to guarantee the execution of the planned actions in the Order of the Employment Council of the Andalucía Government and that regulates them.
